Liverpool eliminated Milan from European competition


Milan lost to Liverpool at San Siro in the 6th round of the Champions League group stage. This defeat placed Rossoneri at the fourth position in Group B.

The home side took the lead after the goal of Fikayo Tomori after the corner. But back in the first half, Liverpool responded with an accurate shot from Mohamed Salah. Divock Origi found the net in the second half and brought the victory.

Interestingly, Milan had all the chances to reach the UCL round of 16. They had to win, but Stefano Pioli’s team wasn’t able to please home fans. With four points in the bag, Milan finished last. After the victory at Dragao, Atletico took second place with 7 points, while Porto became third with five points.

Liverpool won their sixth victory and finished first in the group with 18 points. This victory was gained with only three players from the starting squad, while the rest eight players didn’t have enough practice in the last months.

Moreover, this sixth win out of six in the group stage became the record for English clubs in the Champions League. Earlier, none of the English clubs went to the playoffs with maximum points.
