A new week in the IPL brought a few more interesting clashes between the teams full of star players. On Monday, Rajasthan Royals faced Kolkata Knight Riders in the battle for the fourth victory in the league.
RR opened the game batting first and scored an impressive 217 for 5, with a ton from Buttler (103 from 61). While the mission looked impossible for KKR, they almost fought back thanks to Finch’s 58 from 28 and Iyer’s 85 from 51. However, they lost two last wickets in the 20th over and scored only three runs, finishing the game at 210 for 10. So close!
On Tuesday, the viewers almost saw another century in the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants. RCB opened the game with bats in hands and scored quite a good 181 for 6, with a 96-run attempt by du Plessis (from 64 balls). Although KL Rahul beat Kohli’s record in terms of the fastest to 6000 runs in T20 (in 166 innings, compared to Virat’s 184 innings), his 30 from 24 were not enough to chase the opponent. LSG finished the game with only 163 for eight, losing to RCB.
The Wednesday game wasn’t resulting at all because Punjab Kings totally failed their batting opportunity. In the game against struggling Delhi Capitals, PBKS batters delivered only 115 runs in 20 overs and lost all the wickets. Of course, it was not a problem for DC to chase such a poor result, and they made it thanks to only three guys. Additional congratulations to David Warner, whose 60 from 30 helped not only to win the game but to score 1000+ points against a single IPL franchise, which was previously achieved only by Rohit Sharma (1018 against KKR). DC closed the game at 119 for one, in the 11th over.
Of course, the winners of the games improved their chances for playoffs. Especially it was especially vital for DC, who grabbed their third victory in six clashes. Both RR and RCB have only two defeats each, but Royal Challengers played seven games and have 10 points (second place in the standing), while the Royals landed in the chasing group with eight points.
