Sobolenko – Badosa: prediction for the match of the final WTA tournament

By the start of the final WTA championship in Guadalajara, Aryna Sobolenko is in the status of the second racket of the world and one of the main contenders for the trophy. However, it is not easy to make bold predictions about the results of Aryna’s performance in Mexico.

The thing is that after the semifinals of the US Open, the Belarusian tennis player has played practically nowhere. The transferred coronavirus somewhat knocked Aryna out of her usual rut. In October, she had a start at the Kremlin Cup. However, two fights with Tomlyanovich (7-6, 4-6, 6-1) and Aleksandrova (3-6, 4-6) did not show us that Sobolenko is fully ready to prove herself at the end of the season.

Paula Badosa had the most successful season of her career and, for the first time, entered the top 10 and made her way to the final WTA championship. The Spanish tennis player won the prestigious Indian Wells tournament in October and, largely due to this, qualified for Guadalajara. Recall that in the final of those competitions, Paula outplayed Victoria Azarenka (7-6, 2-6, 7-6).

After Indian Wells, Badosa did not play anywhere, rested and prepared for her debut final tournament. Note that in the summer in Cincinnati, Badosa played against Sobolenko and claimed a tough victory (5-7, 6-2, 7-6).

In our opinion, bookmakers somewhat overestimate the Belarusian tennis player in the upcoming match. For more than a month, Aryna had practically no playing practice; in a personal meeting this year on hard, she lost to Paula Bados. We hope that the Spaniard will show worthy resistance and may well win.

Our prediction is the victory of Badosa with a handicap (+4) of the game for the odds of 1.56. The tennis players will play their first match in Guadalajara, and there may be problems with adaptation. This year’s personal meeting in Cincinnati took place in an equal and stubborn struggle, which is what we look forward to today. The second bet – a total of over 21 games with a coefficient of 1.79.
