A judge in Nevada has recommended dismissing a lawsuit filed by American model Catherine Mayorgi, who accused Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo of rape, AP reports.
The trial began in September 2018 after a model filed a rape lawsuit by a player at a hotel in June 2009. Mayorga said she received $ 375,000 from the player for her silence.
During a new hearing, Judge Daniel Albreggts accused Leslie Mark Stovall (Mayorga’s lawyer) of quoting information that the lawyer had seized from Ronaldo’s stolen correspondence with lawyers.
“Dismissing Mayorga’s lawsuit about the misconduct of her lawyer is a difficult outcome of the case. But, unfortunately, this is the only adequate sanction that ensures the impartiality of the trial. Stovall acted in bad faith, damaging his client and his profession, ”the judge said in an explanatory note. The Albgrets will present their findings to Federal Judge Jennifer Dorsey, who will make the decision.
