ITF named World Champions in the year 2021

Quite predictably, the Serbian athlete Novak Djokovic won his seventh crown of the world’s best tennis player of the year. In the women’s race, the best results were on account of the Australian sportswoman Ashleigh Barty. For Ash, that is the second title after a year’s pause.

Those awards are traditional for the tennis community, while the winners are chosen by the expert panel of ITF. They come in parallel to WTA and ATP’s similar nominations of the best during the year.

In 2021, Djokovic was almost unbeaten and added three Grand Slam trophies: the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon. The Australian Barty claimed the major grass-court event at the Wimbledon women’s singles and gained an Olympic bronze medal in mixed doubles.
