The leader of the world ranking issued a victory in an hour and a half. The Serb won the first set in a tie-break; he gave Ruud two games in the second.

Djokovic has filed through 10 times (Ruud – nine) for two sets and implemented three breakpoints out of five. Today Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev will play in the second match of the Green Group. In the Red Group, Daniil Medvedev defeated Hubert Gurkach; Alexander Zverev defeated Matteo Berrettini.
