UEFA representatives held a draw to determine the pairs of the Champions League’s first playoff round yesterday in the Swiss Nyon. Technical issues caused the cancellation of the initial results of the draw for the first time in history.
Some teams couldn’t get specific opponents, so the organisers decided to recast the procedure to make it fully fair.
The following pairs were obtained:
- Salzburg vs Bayern
- Sporting vs Manchester City
- Benfica vs Ajax
- Chelsea vs Lille
- Atletico vs Manchester United
- Villarreal – Juventus
- Inter – Liverpool
- PSG – Real Madrid
Being runner-ups in their groups, the first teams from the list above will play the first matches at home. The second-listed teams were the winners in their groups, so they will host the second match at home.
The Champions League 1/8 finals’ first matches will be on February 15-16 and 22-23. The second games between the squads will take place on March 8-9 and 15-16, respectively. The final matchup will be held at the Gazprom Arena, St. Petersburg, Russia, on May 28. Want to know more about sport news and don’t miss the important news?
