African Cup of Nations: all pairs for 1/8 finals determined

All participants for the first playoff stage of the Africa Cup of Nations are known now. After the last games finished on January 20, the organisers presented the schedule for the elimination stage.

The round of 16 begins on Sunday, January 23. The opening game will be between Burkina Faso and Gabon, while Nigeria will battle against Tunisia. The next day, Guinea will compete against the Gambia, while Comoros will try to overcome a favourite of the event – Cameroon.

Senegal will face Cape Verde on January 25th to open the day, while Malawi will face Morocco the same day. The first playoff stage will finish with the games between Egypt vs Ivory Coast, while Mali will face Equatorial Guinea on January 26th.

Teams came to this stage from six groups with four teams in each. The two best squads moved to the playoffs without additional discussions, while only four best third places joined the playoff race.
